-Lesson One: Faith-
Well, good day to all and praise the name of the Lord Jesus!
Father, we ask that you bless us this morning with the ability to hear and receive what you would have us to, in order that we may grow in stature and in faith.
Amen!

Last week I told you that I was going to give to you as the Lord would lead the teaching he was showing me from 2 Peter.
Have you got your list of eight handy?
Remember These From Last Week?
1. Faith
2. Virtue
3. Knowledge
4. Temperance
5. Patience
6. Godliness
7. Brotherly Love
8. Charity
The first being FAITH . The bible says that without it, it is impossible to please God, it also says that by it, the worlds were framed, and that by it, the elders received a good report.
So what is this faith that the bible talks of?
Also the bible says, without faith that you can't even come to God because without faith you can't believe in a God that you aren't able to see or touch.
Well, do I have your interest peeked yet?

The Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the
Hebrews
11

Faith
1.) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2.) For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3.) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, Gen. 1.1 so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4.) ¶ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. Gen. 4.3-10
5.) By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Gen. 5.21-24
6.) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7.) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; Gen. 6.13-22 by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
8.) ¶ By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. Gen. 12.1-5
9.) By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: Gen. 35.27
10.) for he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11.) Through faith also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, Gen. 18.11-14 ; 21.2 because she judged him faithful who had promised.

FAITH: is the assent of the mind to the truth of divine revelation, on the authority of God's testimony; accompanied with a cordial assent of the will or approbation of the heart; an entire confidence or trust in God's character and declarations, and in the character and doctrines of Christ, with an unreserved surrender of the will to his guidance, and dependence on his merits for salvation. In other words, that firm belief of Gods testimony, and of the truth of the gospel, which influence the will, and lead to an entire reliance on Christ for salvation.

This is the definition from the original Websters Dictionary which just so happens to be available for free at e-sword.com and you will have to check it out from there. It is another free bible download and also the Websters. Anyway, I like to us it to look up definitions because of the fact that Noah Webster knew the bible - chapter and verse.
You can see as you read the definition that it actually describes the steps of faith in God to our salvation and belief in a God who hasn't made himself visible to us in his person, but in all that we need, such a the things of the needs of our daily life.
I guess it might help for me to define the word "Assent" that it used in the definition.
Assent: The act of the mind in admitting, or agreeing to, the truth of a proposition. To admit as true; to agree, yield or concede, or rather to express an agreement of the mind to what is alleged or proposed.
I find it rather refreshing that in becoming educated to the things of God as an individual instead of by a corporate setting where you are just expected to go along with all others in believing about something that if you were given the chance to investigate the evidence for yourself and then make a decision, you just are more rooted in your faith. I guess because no one can question your ability to understand what you believe when you already understand it better than they do. That is why I like to be able to define what I am saying to you in order for you to be educated enough to make your own decision.
That way if someone says, " how do you know that? " You can say, " because I studied it " and NOT say " cause bro Willy said so ".
Get the picture?
When you answer the door to your heart and find out it is the devil wanting to challenge you, you look him dead in the eye and say "your are a liar", and "I know this because I hold the truth within me".
Now is that faith or what?!?!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lord, I pray that all who read these words here today are able to know them and to understand them. Lord, I also pray for a special blessing for all those who take all these matters into consideration as to apply them to their own life.
Amen!
Until Next Time,
Love And God Bless You All! --- Willy
