Do You Know The Lord?
Father, we come to you today giving you great glory, worship, honor, and praise. We lift up all the people in this world that still don't call Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We claim them all for the kingdom of God in the name of Jesus Christ. Also Lord I would ask that you would open the eyes and ears of all those who read this, that they may understand and grow in you, in all mercy and grace growing up in Christ that you are able to reach many unsaved souls thru them..............

¶ Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. |

¶ According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: |
|
|
whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. |
|
|
And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; |
|
|
and to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness; |
|
|
and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, charity. |
|
|
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
|
|
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. |
|
|
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: |
|
|
for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. |
|
|
¶ Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. |

Oh to have a real and knowing KNOWLEDGE of who Jesus Christ, our Lord really is to us. A real heart knowledge and not just a head knowledge. One that will cause us to change according to the will of God and not one that causes us to change so they we may appear to be good in mans eyes. Not to obtain acceptance from man, but to be able to make a difference in God by being able to be used of God, for God's purpose.
I am not exactly sure how all of this teaching that God is showing me is going to be put forth. But I do know that his word says not to meditate on what to say, but in that hour I will give you what to say. Luke 12:11-12, Matthew 10:19-20, Mark 13:11. Look it up for yourselves.

Notice that in both verse 2 and again in verse 3 that it says, (through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord) the knowledge of Jesus. What I am going to deal with is the fact that in verses 5-7 there are listed 8 items that God says we need. Them being:
1. Faith
2. Virtue
3. Knowledge
4. Temperance
5. Patience
6. Godliness
7. Brotherly Love
8. Charity
Then in verse 8 it says IF these things be in you and ABOUND , that they will MAKE YOU . Now when I got to that part, is when I realized that God was trying to give me an understanding of what we need to have in order to be what God wants us to be. That was earlier this week. Then on Friday morning as I had woke up I walked into the truck stop to get coffee and to get on the road. As I was walking to the coffee pot I saw a display full of audio books on clearance. This usually yields a bunch of garbage that after a week or so gets reduced by about 1/2 price because no one will buy them. Well, here laying on the top of the pile is a book titled, The Merciful God of Prophecy, His Loving Plan for You in the End Times - By TIM LAHAYE , who is one of the authors for the left behind series and also is an expert on Bible Prophecy. Well, guess what? I now own it and wow, what a book. Anyway as I listened to it, it talked about the importance of having an understand of the KNOWLEDGE of who Jesus is. There it was again, OK Lord so the book was for me, from you, and you had it laid out on the top of the pile for me. So I added it to the understanding God had already given me from 2 Peter 1.
Well, about 1 month ago while at home I was looking thru the library of books that my wife was arranging on the shelves of the new bookcase that God blessed us with (he is good that way you know) well he brought my attention to a book named Holiness, Truth, and the Presence of God . What's it about you ask? Well, I am glad you asked. Here is the title of chapter 5, WHEN CHRIST IS REVEALED . and the subheading. THE PROCESS OF KNOWLEDGE BECOMING EXPERIENCE . So there it is again, The knowledge of Jesus Christ.
After spending some quiet time with the Lord he began to show me how all of these things are just really foundational things that everyone who calls themselves a Christian must have in order to even have an understand of who Christ is and how he affects or should I say how he should be able to affect our lives, IF we let him. So here is what I want you to do. Read the scriptures above, then go to your online Bible that you have downloaded to your computer and start to cross reference these verses and see what God opens up to you. Keep in mind, an open mind and heart is needed, also a wiliness to want to hear and know an intimacy of who your Lord and Savior is in you and too you.
Then as the weeks go by we will try to study out each of these 8 words a little more in depth and also, you will begin to see how all of these are tied in together.

Check it out, look at verse 13, then 14 tells you why, and then 15-16 tells you how and it all fits in with the rest that I have shared with you today.
GOD is just so great!
OK I want to close with a prayer that I wrote down in the front of my Bible that God had given me.
OH LORD, HELP ME TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE NEAR. YOU HAVE NOT FORSAKEN ME, BUT IT IS I WHO HAVE FORSAKEN YOU. OH LORD, TEACH ME WHAT IT MEANS TO BE HUMBLE, AND TAKE AWAY MY ARROGANCE OF THINKING THAT I WOULD KNOW YOUR WAYS. FOR I KNOW NOT YOUR WAYS, ONLY IF I ALLOW WITH A WILLING HEART, FOR YOU TO MAKE MY WAYS YOUR WAYS. HELP ME TOO CEASE FROM SELF-SUFFICIENCY, IN THINKING I AM ABLE TO KNOW ANYTHING, EXCEPT YOU WOULD SHOW ME. YOU LOVE ME LORD. LORD TEACH ME TO LOVE AS YOU DO.
