"You Need Not Be Stressed"
(or "Rule#2 – See Rule#1")
<RULE #1>
EXODUS 20:1-3
#1 - And God Spake all these words, saying,
#2 - I am the Lord thy God, which have brought you out of the land of Egypt,
( for us this would be the worldly) out of the house of bondage.
(this would be us being trapped in our sin)
#3 - You shall have no other Gods before me.
Isn't it amazing how many of us reading this, have daily problems that we say, “God help me”, and he does, but we go right back to Egypt after our prayer. We don't allow God to change our heart, we ask for help but then we don't allow the help to come.
From the time we are small we are always told that if you ever expect to get anywhere in this world then you are going to have work for it.
Gods word says, come unto me all you who are burdened and heavy laden and take unto you my yoke for it is light and easy to bear and I will give you rest. In other words, take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there. But we don't we take them to the Lord and then carry them home with us. So we go thru life full of stress and frustration.
In the book of Matthew 6:24-34 it talks about the fact that no one can serve two masters, God and money. We are always taught that we need to attain, attain, attain. God says relax and let me take care of you. This is no a simple thing, because of the way we were taught to push after things not God. One of the last verses #33 says, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all the these things shall be added unto you. This means, we look to God for the answers and THEN! we must yield our hearts to him. You see the answer comes in us allowing God to change our stinking thinking, that should make it easy to remember. We have to learn to let God reteach us how to live. Now some of you will reject this manner of thinking and so I refer you to RULE#1:
You shall have no other Gods before me!
That is the first of the ten commandments. We never even get started in the life of serving Jesus Christ, till we break the first rule and so we have trouble in Gods school. We have to surrender our STINKING THINKING!
Phillipians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you; which was also in Christ Jesus. And then go to the bible and read on from there.
You see anything, or anyone including even our needs for daily things cannot be put before our serving God or that becomes our God.
Are you confused yet?
I will tell you like God told me. He said, "Son you are not a Truck Driver who is a Christian, but a Christian who drives a truck"
Get it!
When we put God as the head of our thoughts ways and deeds, then we allow him to change our stinking thinking to Christian thinking. Then we can get somewhere in our life that counts.
Want proof?
Then answer this question:
"Why is it that so many Hollywood stars, professional athletes, who attain great riches, homes, marry beautiful people, are all so miserable, suicidal, and many times drink or dope themselves to death?"
Father we pray, Lord give us all wisdom knowledge discernment and understanding in all things concerning you and our life in you. Help us to understand how to yield to you instead of us trying to control our life, but help us to see how you would have us to be, to live, to work, to parent........ Lord, show us how to have no other Gods before you, but to let you be the God of our life. – Amen!
