- Lesson Six: Godliness -
Father, we give the most high praise worship glory and honor. We shout Hosanna to you Lord, and we ask you Lord that as we come to you this day, that you would give us wisdom knowledge discernment understanding, and counsel of your word all that we will read here today.....

Godliness
(by definition)
Piety; belief in God, and reverence for his character and laws.
Piety - respect, reverence, love for God and acting on all his commandments out of this feeling toward him.

2) Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3) According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Ok, now according to what we just read we will receive grace and peace for all matters whether in the things of life pertaining to the flesh or the spirit. These are given to us as promises from the Lord if we will allow ourselves to be so given over to the Lord Jesus that in return we will be able to attain the knowledge of who he is beyond our salvation experience.
In order for this to be completed we must be able to have the eight ability's listed in verses 5-7. These are brought forth out of our being by the Lord as we allow him to teach us according as he would have us to know him and not as man would try to teach us of earthly wisdom.

1 John 2:27 - But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Now according to the meaning of Godliness and of piety, we can see that as we act on these words with love in our heart toward God and wanting to know him in a deeper way. That this is how we receive the great and precious promises that are talked of in verse 4.
This is the most important part If we are to be able to partake of the divine nature and understanding of Jesus Christ. This is the part where the Bible stops being a book full of stories about other people and starts to be a manual for us to learn that this is how we are to live our day to day life. When we are so given to live our lives for the Lord and so love him, that then we are blessed to receive the Knowledge of God and Jesus.

Father, I pray in the name of Jesus that all who have read this will have the understanding of what it really means to have a life in Christ.
